How To Create Videos and Post Them To YouTube

By November 9, 2010July 31st, 2014Marketing Tips, Video Production

I guest post over at Search Engine People’s popular blog. I wrote a new one there last week that people seem to be enjoying. It provides 8 tips and tricks to posting your videos on YouTube so that they get found.

So that’s posting. But what do you have to keep in mind when you’re creating your masterpiece?

How To Create Online Videos

Here for Brand Mechanics readers are 5 extra tips on that:

1. As with everything it starts with keywords. In this case developing a keyword-rich script that meets the content needs of your target customer. This will help you later when annotating to Flash or when / if you want to offer captions for the hearing or open-office impaired (it’s not only responsible, it’s good SEO)

2. Make sure you have search-optimized titles and content in the first couple of frames for better indexing.

3. YouTube considers a video ‘viewed’ after 8 seconds so make sure it has enough pull to get that point (why does online marketing have so many 8 second rules?).

4. Keep the video short. 2 to 5 minutes max. If your subject matter can’t be contained in that time, consider breaking it up into a series of linked videos.

5. Create a thumbnail image that’s branded for Google.

If you want to also post it to your site (which is a fine idea), well that’s another post.

Hope this helps.
